Hvar

Hvar is an island in the immediate vicinity of Split, lying between the islands of Brač, Vis and Korčula. This island, due to it’s unusual large fertile coastal plain and fresh water springs, became interesting for the ancient Greek settlers in the 4th century B.C. forming the Greek Polis of Faros, Stari Grad of present day. Hvar was also important center of Croatian literature during the Renaissance, as one of the most prominent poets, Petar Hektorović, lived in Stari Grad. A true Renaissance person, a poet, an architect and a true noble man. Residents of the island, work mainly in tourism. This is understandable for the fact that the island of Hvar is the sunniest spot in Europe, with the average of 2715 annual sunshine hours. The main center is the town of Hvar that recently became very well known among the yacht owners as one of the most beautiful summer destinations. In the pre and post season, the island and the town of Hvar are the ideal spot for your team building, business event or an incentive.
